
A TRIBUTE TO EXCELLENCE
The European Private Hospital Awards (EPHA) is the stage to celebrate the dynamism of the private hospital sector in Europe, the level of differentiation achieved, its leading positioning in terms of investment, management models, patient focus and clinical approaches.
Following the previous successful editions in Lisbon (2022, 2023) and Bucharest (2024), the fourth edition will take place, this year, in Madrid, on 29 October 2025. This year’s edition received 95 applications from 11 countries, distributed across eight categories.
Organized by the European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP) and the Spanish Private Healthcare Alliance (ASPE) in collaboration with EY, the 2025 event will bring together nearly 300 key representatives of the healthcare sector from 17 European countries, including executives, healthcare professionals, institutional leaders, and companies in the health and technology sectors.
These Awards were created in 2022, under the scope of the European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP), on the proposal of the Portuguese Association of Private Hospitals (APHP).

The CaixaForum Madrid building, designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, is an open space for the production and dissemination of culture without limits. The center is located within the “Art Triangle,” alongside the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Museo Nacional del Prado. CaixaForum Madrid opened its doors in 2008, transformed into a cultural space and a landmark architectural work.

2024
The third edition of EPHA was organized by Palmed, the Romanian association of private hospitals. Portugal won in five categories. Bulgaria and Romania won in the remaining two categories, in a well-attended ceremony that included representatives from various sectors of the European healthcare universe.

2023
The second edition of EPHA – held on 25 May in Lisbon at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion, under the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic – awarded four of the seven trophies in dispute to Portuguese private hospitals. Spain, Italy and Poland won the remaining three categories, in a ceremony attended by the Portuguese Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro.

2022
The first edition of the European Private Hospital Awards (EPHA) took place at Páteo da Galé, in Lisbon, under the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic.
